The birds and the statue

It’s a strict rule at this beautiful spot that the birds must respect human artwork, just as the humans respect the birds’ environment and try and keep it clean.

“You must, especially, never drop messes on the human statues,” the birds are repeatedly told as they learn to fly and obey the rules. “We don’t understand why they wouldn’t want this honor, but for some reason it offends them.”

So the young man with the vase is respected by all the birds and never subjected to bird droppings. And he never fails to wave to the birds as they fly overhead and thank them for their courtesy.
